To celebrate their "Big 5-0" and to thank their best customers, there will be a 50/50/50 Raffle each month. Every customer who spends $50 or more that month will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift certificate. Drawings will be held on the 1st of each month.
Glen Crest 8th Graders Begin Registration at Glenbard South
Jumping right into the registration process for high school, Glen Crest Middle School eighth graders received their information letter from Glenbard South High School their first week back at middle school after winter break. Thursday, January 14, all the eighth grade science classes were devoted to guidance people from Glenbard South presenting facts and opportunities to the incoming 2010 freshmen class members.
The big night for Glen Crest students at Glenbard South is Eighth Grade Family Night scheduled for Thursday, February 4. The evening is designed for both incoming students and their parents.
At 6:00 P.M. in the Glenbard South auditorium there will be a presentation about the Honors Program and Advanced Placement courses. At 6:45 P.M. in the same auditorium, the music departments at the high school will entertain the audience. 7:00 P.M. is the time of the general meeting. The high school faculty and staff firmly believe that Family Night is an integral part of making the transition from eighth to ninth grade. They look forward to meeting the newest Glenbard South Raiders.
February 8 and February 10 are the dates of eighth grade enrollment meetings into Glenbard South. The time and day are included in a letter sent to all eighth grade parents from the Guidance Department. Kids Valentine's Party! February 14th, 2-3pm
The Bookstore is hosting a Valentine's Day children's party on Sunday, February 14th from 2-3 pm for children ages 3-8. The party will include Valentine's Day storytime, crafts and games. Purchase of a $5 gift certificate is required. Call (630) 469-2891 or e-mail The Bookstore to register.
Internet Safety Main Topic for Parents Night at Glen Crest
Tuesday, February 16 , beginning at 7:00 P.M, Glen Crest Middle School, located at 725 Sheehan Avenue in Glen Ellyn, will dedicate an evening to inform parents how to keep students safe online and what they can do at home to monitor the internet. Cell phone and texting precautions will be discussed as well.
The program begins with a general information session in the middle school gymnasium. PowerSchool, Gagglenet, student e-mail accounts, library databases, CRISS strategies, and more will be discussed throughout the evening.
The parents will divide into groups and the rest of the Internet Safety Program education will take place in the newly renovated Glen Crest Library Information and Technology Center. Pam McDermot, LIT Director will lead the parents through the internet library system. E-mail and computers is the topic for computer teacher Debbie Wolski, art teacher, Rich Stachon leads the discussion on Powerschool, and 6th grade social studies teacher, Debbie Pruitt explains data bases.
Newly installed Smartboards will be utilized to illustrate the methods that students use to get information. The Teen Advisory Board made up of 8th grade students will be on hand to help parents operate the technology necessary to learn about Internet Safety.

10th Annual Book Group Night: Thurs. Feb 18th, 7pm

Please join The Bookstore for their 10th Annual Book Group Night. Each book club can send one or more representatives to participate in our discussion about your favorite reads of the last year. Presentation About The Treaty of Prairie du Chien Featured at Woman’s Club Meeting
Tuesday, March 2, at 1:00 P.M., the Glen Ellyn Woman’s Club features a remarkable presentation by Frances Hagemann, titled, “Archange Ouilmette, The Treaty of Prairie du Chien and the President of the United States.” Hegemann is an Ojibwa Indian and French Canadian who has lived all of her life in the Chicago area. Her most recent teaching position was as a member of the history department of the University of Illinois, at Chicago.
The program Haagemann is giving for the Woman’s Club is about Archange, the lady who gave the Chicago suburb of Wilmett its name. The southern part of Wilmette and the northern part of Evanston encompass the Potawatomi land ceded to Archange by the Treaty of Prairie du Chien in 1829. This will be the story of the lady, her lands and the family’s dealing with the President of the United States.
The Woman’s Club meets in the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane Street. Guests are welcome and reservations for this unique and educational program can be made by calling the club president, Carol Miller, at 630-469-7046.

Dogs Like Books Too!
